Everyday books

We love this post by Alli Harper on M is for Movement. She puts into words so articulately some of the reasons we started Skip A Beat: not just that families like ours need better representation, but that we need books that contain narratives from across the picture book spectrum, not solely ‘issues’ books.

This is one of the reasons we love Bryan’s ‘The Different Dragon’, and it’s great to see how some publishers such as Barefoot Books are starting to feature same-sex families such as the one on their ‘Baby’s First Words’ book. More please publishers!
